This week’s yoga and astral insights 02.09.2019

Dear yogis and yoginis,

Virgo season is here!
Autumn is starting to show – leaves are falling off trees, holidays are over, earlier nights… We start to organise ourselves and prepare for the transition to winter.

There are many astrological aspects this week but, following the Virgo spirit, I’m going to keep this organised and simple:

  • We just had a new Moon in Virgo, so the Moon is waxing now, gaining light and growing. Perfect timing to start new things, gain clarity and make the most of the energy increase.
  • We have a triple conjunction in Virgo: the Sun (conscience, presence), Mars (action) and Mercury (mind).
  • Virgo is the sign of the body.

This is the week to embody, be present, show up – experience life with your 5 senses. Get out of the mind – test-drive your dreams, learn by direct experience what works and what doesn’t; go out there and talk to people, minimise online interaction and put in the effort to show up.

I will show up and teach you this week at:

  • Tuesday 7pm
    Open Level @Goldendoor studio
  • Wednesday 7pm
    Wild Yoga @ Whittington Park
  • Thursday 10am
    Open Level @Goldendoor studio
  • Saturday 10am
    Open Level @Goldendoor studio

Please get in touch to book your mat.

Hope to see you on the mat soon!

Astral insights

Hello it’s eclipse season! Lets get ready!
We have a total solar eclipse on July 2nd followed by a partial lunar eclipse on July 16-17th…

What does this all mean?

A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth at the right angle and alignment to cover the whole of the Sun’s surface. In this particular eclipse the Sun is on Cancer. Cancer is the sign of the home, where we feel secure and grounded be it our physical home or the ways we have identified with creating a home. An eclipse brings changes to those affected so this may mean a literal change of home or a change of our meaning of home, changing our approach to creating a home, a different way of feeling that security… A Solar eclipse is usually linked to new beginnings.

A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth comes in between the Sun and the Moon. in this case we have a partial lunar eclipse in Capricorn. A Solar eclipse always comes followed by a lunar eclipse – note that Capricorn is the sign right opposite Cancer, as the Sun and the Moon are in opposition (the Sun is still in Cancer). Capricorn is the sign of family and career, so to those affected there may be changes in these areas of life. Lunar eclipses are usually linked to releasing and letting go.

Here’s last week’s mantra from Kaypacha:

Sometimes I simply need to withdraw,
From the madness going on,
To create, protect, and hold the space,
Of my peaceful, loving home.

Introspection and finding answers inside, best to use this time to prepare for the eclipse season and smoothly welcome any coming changes. You can watch the whole report here

Enjoy!

New moon in Gemini

Dear yogis and yoginis,

Happy new moon in Gemini! Gemini is ruled by Mercury, planet of communication, technology and travel. There’s a link with the throat chakra, Visshudha – our purification centre. Balancing Visshudha allows us to speak our truth. The sun is also in Gemini so it is a time for networking and generally going out and get things done!
New moons are great times to set intentions and yesterday’s opens a 6 month window – up to the full moon in Gemini, December 11th. So if we start working through those truths we need to communicate, first to ourselves before sharing them with loved ones, we start manifesting us in a place closer to our authenticity in 6 months time.
Remember how great the power of intention is and use it to create you life, right now!

Modern take on 10 swords tarot card – author unknown. It is spot on!

Astral insights

Here’s the mantra for the week:

I’m here to blend the colors of light,
With the dark from the depths below,
Creating a masterpiece of my life,
As I move and change and grow.

Focusing on finding and maintaining our balance while we are being pulled to extremes is no easy feat! The silver-lining here is that only until we know our darkest we can get to know our brightest and then find that balance between the two. We want to feel those polarities and feel whole – that Gemini energy we all have may show up these days! But we know how to handle this – following a daily yoga practice is one way to do this 🙂

Here’s the full pele report for you to watch.

Enjoy and see you on the mat very soon!

FULL MOON IN SCORPIO
Deep waters of change

The moon just went through her first quarter phase into waxing gibbous and will keep swelling up as we advance through the week, culminating in a super powerful full moon in Scorpio on Saturday.

A little bit of lunar wisdom:

You might have heard this is also a blue moon. ‘Another blue moon? Didn’t it happen last month? How is this possible?’ I hear you say.
A blue moon is essentially an extra full moon in a year, when there are 13 instead of 12. Now, which one is the actual blue moon then? The original definition of the blue moon is the seasonal one and it traces back to the August 1937 issue of the Maine Farmer’s Almanac, where it explains that “the moon usually comes full 12 times in a year, three times for each season. Occasionally, however, there will come a year when there are 13 full moons during a year, not the usual 12. And that extra full moon also meant that one of the four seasons would contain four full moons instead of the usual three.”

The almanac followed certain rules for what to call each moon. For example, the last full moon of winter had to fall during Lent; it was called the Lenten Moon. The first full moon of spring was called the Egg Moon — or Easter Moon, or Paschal Moon — and had to fall within the week before Easter. There was also the Moon Before Yule and the Moon After Yule. So when a particular season had four moons, the third was dubbed a Blue Moon, so that the other full moons could occur at the proper times relative to the solstices and equinoxes.

Somehow this definition got misinterpreted along the way circa 1946 and this adoption of the definition of a “blue moon” as the second full moon in a month followed its use on the popular radio program StarDate on January 31, 1980.

I will be holding a full moon meditation and ritual this
Friday 17th at the Whittington Cafe,
9-10pm

Astral insights

This week starts with a Grand Trine on the Earth element as the Sun is in taurus, Pluto retrogrades in Capricorn and the Moon is in Virgo. This may bring that power, focus and determination needed to finally make that change in an old pattern system which no longer serves us. As human beings we want to belong, but now is the time to find out who we really are. There’ll be hurdles and tests along the way.
The question to ask in these moments is: ‘Do I want authenticity or belonging?
Your soul knows the answer! This Trine will support us with the energy to go forward and get through these changes so we come through to the other side the most honest and true we’ve ever been. Remember that ‘there is no change without discomfort’. This is only temporary, but necessary for us to evolve.
The full moon in Scorpio towards the end of the week will be emotionally deep… It’s an all or nothing moon, yes or no, there is no space for half ways… This is a great time to deal with stopping addictions and fully supports the Grand Trine at the beginning of the week.
Don’t think about it and dive in!

Astral insights

The new moon in Taurus last Saturday opened up a window in which we may be challenged to change old security structures which are no longer serving us. This could be in relationships (carrying it from the last two full moons in Libra), our relationship with money or our work. We are being challenged to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’.
Yes, this old ways worked in the past, perhaps for years, and we feel comfortable acting a certain way as we ‘know the outcome’ – but is this the outcome we wish for or are we keeping ourselves trapped in these cycles?
One thing is very clear: f we don’t change the way we do things the results won’t change either. Start small, one step at a time. Give it a go! A little risk from your part can bring in growth and you may be surprised of the outcome 🙂

Here’s the mantra for the week:

I am being measured,
I’m not quite sure what for,
But I know that deep within,
There really is much more.

I will see you on the mat very soon I hope!
